- Wrote The Pentagon Wars (Naval Institute Press, 1993) which tied for 1st prize with Richard Reeves’ President Kennedy: A Profile in Power for Washington Monthly Magazine’s 1993 Political Book Award. The book dealt with my controversial experience with the Army over testing the Bradley Fighting Vehicle in the mid-1980’s.
The book received glowing reviews by the New York Times and other papers.

My wife and I have the good fortune of living in the historic Mercer House in Aldie, former home of Charles Fenton Mercer, one of Virginia’s outstanding statesmen of the 19th century. Mercer served in the U. S. Congress from 1817-1840 and founded the Village of Aldie.
